Premier League Coaching Update

We are pleased to announce the finalisation of our Premier League Coaching Structure for Season 2022. 


Marc Pike will be coming on board as head coach of the PL1 Men’s side. Marc is a FIH and Hockey Australia level 3 accredited coach, and has Premier League 1 coaching experience at Wolves, Vic Park and most recently Old Guildfordians Mundaring. He was part of the Reds 2018 PL1 premiership as a player, and has also coached numerous state indoor sides. Marc will be supported by assistant coach Rhys Angwin.  Rhys is well known to Pirates having been a staple of our Men’s Premier League side for the best part of a decade and a half. A former Thundersticks representative, Rhys has recently begun his Level 2 coaching accreditation. 


Kate Starre and Matt Bird will be co-coaches for the Women’s PL 1 side. Kate is a triple Olympian, 2 time Olympic gold medallist, 2 time World Cup gold medallist, Commonwealth Games gold medallist and 4 time Champions Trophy gold medallist and returns to CUHC having most recently coached our Men’s PL side in 2018. Matt is a former Kookaburra and current Thundersticks squad member and is looking to build on his coaching experience after acting in an assistant role for us on occasions throughout season 2021.
